Linear displacement sensor
With Sensoweb, find in a few minutes the linear displacement
sensor that matches your specifications.
Lots of linear displacement sensors available
on the European market are referenced into our database.
Search linear displacement sensors
The guide enables you to select the linear
displacement sensor considering its main criteria
such as the measurement type (contact or non-contact), the
measurement range or stroke, the accuracy, the operating
conditions (temperature – protection class – use
in explosive atmosphere ATEX), the shape, the dimensions,
the output signal (displacement sensor with or without built-in
conditioning electronic), etc…
The linear displacement sensors, the distance sensors,
the position sensors, the telemeters, the distancemeters,
the dial indicators, the linear encoders (incremental
or absolute) referenced are supplied by several European manufacturers
or distributors.
The linear displacement sensors referenced
are supplied by several European manufacturers or distributors.
They are based on different technologies:
• For non-contact sensors : variable
reluctance, Eddy current, capacitive, ultrasonic, optical
(optical fibres (fiber optic), interferometry, triangulation,
time of flight measurement, laser telemeter, retroreflective,
shadow principle, inductive)
• For contact sensors (with rod or
tip for example): Linear Variable Differential Transformer
(LVDT), variable inductance, variable reluctance, potentiometer
(conductive plastic, wire wound, hybrid), magnetoresistive
effect, strain gauge extensometer, glass scale encoder, potentiometer
or wire encoder.
Linear displacement sensors can be used,
in laboratory or industrial environment, to measure or control
linear displacement, the position of a moving body, the dimensions
of a device or its displacement speed (static or dynamic measurement,
contact or non-contact). The different applications for
linear displacement sensors are automation, online
monitoring, safety, tests, dimensions or deformation measurement
(deflection for example), mechatronics, etc…
